In the past twenty years, digitisation campaigns in major world collections of Hebrew manuscripts have made masses of high-quality images of original medieval treasures available to scholars and the wider public. This has renewed the relevance of manuscript sources—both books and documents—for historical and literary research in Jewish Studies. The resulting “manuscript turn,” however, also requires more effective methods for dating these sources. This webinar presents a new online resource, HebrewPal: Digital Album of Hebrew Palaeography, which combines traditional Hebrew palaeography with recent developments in digital technology.
